My name is Benjamin Dourthe. I am a passionate Researcher, Data Scientist and Machine Learning Engineer with over 10 years of multidisciplinary experience. I am passionate about learning, technology, entrepreneurship, puzzle-solving and using science and out-of-the-box thinking to make a difference in the world.
I grew up in France, where I graduated from a Master's in Mechanical Engineering and a Master of Science, Technology and Health back in 2013. Then, I studied and worked in Belgium for 3 years as a Research Engineer and graduated from a PhD in Biomedical Engineering and Data Science in 2017. Since then, I have been living and working in Canada.
My life-long objective is to constantly expand and diversify my skillset to build innovative and accessible technologies that will help push the bounderies of human knowledge and enhance our ability to use data to solve global and impactful challenges.
Over the years, I have acquired a solid programming knowledge by working with a wide variety of machine learning models and techniques, and developed an excellent command of Python and its data science and deep learning frameworks (e.g., NumPy, SciPy, Pandas, Sklearn, PyTorch, Tensorflow). As an experienced data scientist and machine learning engineer, I have an extended knowledge of how to extract/generate meaningful features from complex datasets, as well as optimizing their content using various dimensionality reduction techniques (e.g., clustering, feature engineering, principal component analysis). My international and multidisciplinary experiences in Europe, Canada, and the United States have also given me the ability to easily exchange knowledge and connect with people with different backgrounds, which consistently helped me improve my aptitude to think out-of-the box and resolve unseen challenges. I believe to be a creative thinker who is strongly committed to his passion and objectives. I also have demonstrated my ability to quickly learn and adapt to new fields of knowledge, teams and work environments.
In summary, I am a big dreamer who never walks away from a challenge and has the best intentions to contribute to the betterment of society.

Ability to develop and implement supervised and unsupervised learning algorithms for classification and regression applications (linear and logistic regression, decision trees, random forest, support vector machines, k-means clustering, principal component analysis, recommender systems, natural language processing)
Ability to develop and implement neural network architectures for classification and regression on image and time series data (convolutional and recurrent neural network, autoencoders, generative adversarial network)
